This weekend, Kinja FC welcomed Deister United from Germany. Girls from both teams were able to train and play together, and learn from each other.
On Friday, girls from Kinja and Deister U12, U14 and U16 trained together at the Ark Academy, before playing some friendly, small-sided games. Coaches from Arsenal Ladies were also present to train and talk to the U16s, as well as Arsenal defender Vyan Sampson.
On Saturday they were back at the Ark Academy, as eight teams participated in a 7-a-side “Wilkommen” tournament. Both Kinja and Deister provided three teams (U12, U14 and U16), while Tottenham came as a mixed team, and Challenge FC was formed of players from clubs including QPR and Kinja. All teams played each other, and the age difference did not prove a problem. All the girls played beautiful football and there were many close games. All the girls had a great afternoon.
Deister were also able to visit the iconic Wembley Stadium on Sunday, to watch the League One play-off final between Preston North End and Swindon Town. They were joined by some of players, parents and coaches from Kinja.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, and Kinja were able to learn a lot from the German teams, and all their players, coaches and parents were extremely friendly. Hopefully the return trip is not too far away!
